The concept of affiliate marketing may seem easy, you find a product to promote, you drive traffic, a sale is made and you get paid a commission. If life was this easy right!
The first thing to consider is this, not all affiliate schemes, or products for that matter are created equal. Clickbank provides a sizable amount of data that enables anyone to assess whether a product is popular and worthwhile investing time and energy in promoting, these include stats that show how much business is referred to that product, and an indication of the volume of affiliates promoting to name but two.
You are also able to see the pitch page (sales page) and decide on how you feel about the product.
So what happens now, you've found a product....but you have no website! There are plenty of Free resources where you can build a promotional plan without paying anything. Sites like Weebly, Blogger, Wetpaint can all be used as your marketing hub, and website traffic can be driven through having Squidoo lenses, Hub pages, Wordpress blogs, press releases, blog posting, article submissions and much much more.
On top of this there are many Social networking sites and social book marking sites that can be used to create links to your site and bring visitors back to your Free website.
